How To Stay In Great Shape While Staying At Work
So many people blame having a 9-5 job for their expanding waistlines. Working on spreadsheets, investment in stocks documents, and others leave no room to hit the gym. However, there are some things you can do to work out during office hours. Read on to learn how to stay fit and keep your career at the same time.
Other than having healthy food choices for lunch, mind where you eat. Get out of the office and the building and walk for a few blocks away. Find a restaurant which serves meals that's good for your health. If you pack your own meals, brisk walk to the nearest park. If you got nowhere else to eat, eat lunch with a health-conscious co-worker.
Don't waste time in looking for a parking spot near the building. Instead, go for the farthest available one and walk the rest of the distance to your building to use up unwanted calories. During fine weather, use your bicycle instead of the car. Skip the elevator. Take the stairs instead to pump your legs and tighten your lower abs.
Sitting before your computer workstation desk all the time isn't good for your blood circulation and waistline. Have some breaks, but not the kind wherein you access social networking sites. Walk around the office or building's perimeter. Go to a distant colleague's cubicle and have a quick chitchat. Get active by volunteering to run a few errands.
During document typing or applying stock trading strategies, look for strategies to hit two birds with one stone. Once in a while, use a large exercise ball instead of a typical chair. This will help keep your belly taut. Wear rubber shoes to get you moving faster. Go for anything that's farthest from you so you can walk - farthest toilet, farthest water dispenser, etc.
If you got a private office, shut the door from time to time and burst into a few work out routines. Doing push ups is a great way to tone your chest and arms. Performing leg lifts is excellent to exercise your abdominals. Executing lunges works out your buttocks and thighs. You may also have dumbbells in the office to do some bicep curl exercises.
You can ask the company to be active in some health and fitness related activities. You may convince everybody to register for a sporting event, such as running, biking or a ball game. See if the company too can reimburse employees with gym subscriptions. Getting fit while working is easy, if you can find ways to squeeze in some working out.
